It would make an interesting study to comb through the NWT and carefully examine the context of every insertion of "Jehovah" in the NT to see how many obvious instances of such glaring errors, exist. Maybe even publish the findings online.

A glaring example of how Watchtower's insertion of "Jehovah" corrupts the NT

Why doesn't the U.N. sue Watchtower?
by Island Man inthe july 15, 2013 watchtower on page 8 paragraph 19 says that the united nations will attack the world's religions.
there are many other references in watchtower literature that accuse the un of attacking religion in the future.. so why doesn't the un sue watchtower for accusing them of this?.

How do you study? What are your methods of memorizing big amount of text?
by will-be-apostate ini'm having an exam in mineralogy in 20 days and need to learn 120+ pages of content.
i've learned a part of it so far.

I think teaching Latin at school was a great help to the previous generations. Much of the technical jargon used in various fields use terms that are based on Latin root words so having some knowledge of Latin made it easier to connect many technical terms in various fields like biology, chemistry, etc with the ideas they referred to.

I don't know what mineralogy is like but one thing I have learned about learning is that you have to try to fully understand what you want to remember. Don't try to remember at first - just try to fully understand - try and see the logic behind it and meditate on it. Once you fully understand then remembering becomes much easier. When you fully understand, it is possible in some circumstances, to deduce facts that you may have forgotten. It's like understanding Math versus remembering steps to perform a calculation. If you understand Math you can figure out how to calculate something even if you forgot the sequence of steps you were taught. You also have to love your subject.

It's a great site information-wise. But I don't particularly like the format/appearance. The inability to change my Avatar is irritating. But I've read somewhere in an older thread that there's supposed to be an update so I'm looking forward to it. The .com version of the site has a more visually appealing interface but posting from there is . . . how exactly do you post from there?

"They are making Jesus into God Almighty in their new translation?"
This is not a change introduced in the new translation. The old translation is worded the same. I'm only quoting from the new translation because that's the one JWs now use and because the new translation didn't correct this obvious error - a deliberate one, clearly, because it should be very obvious that "the Lord" in Romans 14:8 is Jesus.

"The rNWT replaces "kyrios" (Lord) with "Jehovah" in translating Romans 14:8 as follows:
"For if we live, we live to Jehovah,*+ and if we die, we die to Jehovah.* So both if we live and if we die, we belong to Jehovah."
But note what the very next verse (Romans 14:9) says:
"For to this end Christ died and came to life again, so that he might be Lord over both the dead and the living."
It is very clear from the wording of verse 9 that Kyrios (Lord) mentioned in verse 8 is referring to Jesus and should not be replaced with "Jehovah", because verse 9 is a justification of the idea mentioned in verse 8 as evidenced by the use of the phrase "For to this end . . ." and then going on to refer to christ being kyrios (Lord) over both the dead and the living.
Now notice how the two verses make much better logical sense if kyrios is left as "Lord":"For if we live, we live to the Lord,*+ and if we die, we die to the Lord.* So both if we live and if we die, we belong to the Lord.*+ 9 For to this end Christ died and came to life again, so that he might be Lord over both the dead and the living."
Do you see that? Both verses refer to life and death and both verses refer to one who is Lord of the dead and the living. Verse 9 is actually a justification or explanation of what is stated in verse 8. Since verse 9 explicitly identifies the Lord being referenced as christ then it is obvious that the Lord being referred to in verse 8 is christ and not Jehovah."

An important consideration re the 1975 walkout is this: was it Watchtower policy to shun disassociated ones back in 1975? No. So it was much easier to leave back then. But since the introduction of shunning for disassociated ones since 1980/81, it has become more difficult to walk out. The threat of losing family means that a scandal of comparable magnitude to 1975 would see a smaller exodus - or at least a much less visible and less vocal exodus, with people choosing to simply fade and go inactive rather than formally disassociate.
Don't be surprised if Watchtower implements a new draconian policy in the near future that says inactive ones who miss x number of consequetive meetings will be considered as having disassociated themsleves and are to be treated the same as those who have formally disassociated themselves.
